Shameless fundraiser plug

This week I got the “all clear” on my mammogram and regular six-month check-up with the oncology team, and am officially released from the breast cancer follow-up protocol. That means, by insurance standards, I am a “survivor.” 🙂 I am so grateful for the access I had to excellent medical personnel and services throughout, and very much aware that not everyone is so lucky.

To mark the occasion, I’d like to raise money to purchase a “paver” celebrating the Gathering Place DragonFlys, the dragon boat team of cancer survivors and caretakers/supporters that has enriched so many lives (including mine!), in and around Cleveland. The paver will go in the walkway outside the Gathering Place offices in Beachwood, where it will join dozens of others – some in memory of loved ones lost, some in thanksgiving and celebration for supporters and donors. (The paver fundraising program helps the Gathering Place keep its extraordinary services FREE to area cancer patients and their families/caregivers.) If we raise the funds soon, the paver will be placed this spring and I can invite DragonFly teammates to watch. 🙂

The paver is only $300, but that’s a bit more than our current household philanthropy budget can cough up, so I’m opening up this fundraiser for a little help! Any contribution you’re moved to make would be MOST welcome! If we raise over $300, the balance will go to my Race for the Place team in June… so I can promise you now that I won’t come asking again in June! 🙂
